Offer improved efficiency of protein harvest process

Asahi Kasei Medical has launched BioOptimal MF-SL microfilters for use in cell culture clarification applications, which it says will enable biopharmaceutical manufacturers to improve the efficiency of the protein harvest stage in bioprocessing.

The hollow-fibre membrane structure used in BioOptimal MF-SL filters enables gentle processing of cells and proteins in tangential flow mode, which reduces the burden on subsequent processing steps, and additionally makes them suitable for use in perfusion-based fermentation processes.

Key features of these filters include:
  • High throughput and fast processing times;
  • Excellent filter performance even with high-density cell culture;
  • High clarity of filtrate;
  • Variety of surface area sizes, making for easy scalability; and
  • Chemically stable polysulfone membrane.

Asahi Kasei Medical is the core operating company of the Japanese Ashai Kasei Group for leukocyte reduction and virus removal filter operations.
