Basilea appoints Ronald Scott as CEO

Also expands management team with addition of Heidi McDaid

Basilea Pharmaceutica of Basel, Switzerland has promoted Ronald Scott, previously chief operating officer, to chief executive. He takes up the role on 1 January 2013, succeeding Anthony Man, who has decided for personal reasons to leave the company.

For the last year Scott has been responsible for all of Basilea's operations including technical operations, commercial activities and finance. Prior to this position he was Basilea's CFO. Previously he held senior management positions in the pharmaceutical industry with more than 20 years of experience and in the financial sector.

In addition, Basilea has expanded its management committee to include Heidi McDaid, head of Global Human Resources. She joins the committee on 1 January.

The other members of the team remain Achim Kaufhold, chief medical officer since 2010; Ingrid Heinze-Krauss, chief technical officer since 2006; Laurenz Kellenberger, chief scientific officer since 2009; and Joachim Blatter, chief financial officer since 2012.
