Adds extra capacity for secondary and tertiary packaging

Packaging Coordinators Inc (PCI) has expanded its packaging facilities in Rockford, IL, US to accommodate continued business development in its contract packaging services.

The company has converted under-utilised space to adding 20,000ft2 for secondary and tertiary packaging. It says the additional production capacity will enable continued growth in cartoning, overwrapping, heat seal carding and compliance-prompting packaging, as well as supporting packaging for biotech delivery forms such as secondary packaging for injectable vials, syringes, devices and transdermal products. The operations support both commercial contracts as well as large-scale clinical studies.

PCI's clinical packaging services for investigational medicines at Rockford will be supported by a new 93,000ft2 storage and distribution site, facilitating global logistics for clinical studies, which is expected to be operational in August this year. This expansion complements investments in PCI’s UK operations, most recently construction of a storage and distribution facility near Cardiff, South Wales.

'We are committed to providing an unparalleled customer experience with our clinical and commercial services, and those services require world class facilities,' said Bill Mitchell, President and Chief Executive of PCI.

'We are very excited about what these investments bring to our expanding business and our ability to support our clients.'
