ABB has extended its range of preventive maintenance kits for ABB industrial drives. New versions of the kits are now available for the ACS600 and ACS800 series of drives.

The kits contain all the genuine spare parts needed to service drives at planned intervals to extend their service lives and minimise any risk of product failure and downtime.

They are carefully tailored to contain a complete set of the components needed to service an ABB industrial drive at a given point in its lifecycle in a single package a lower price than it would cost to buy all the components separately. For example, a typical kit might contain replacement cooling fans, cables and capacitors.

Because they are tailored to match the age and condition of each individual drive, the kits are generally supplied as an integral part of a wider package of services within ABB's Lifecycle Management Programme. However, they may also be supplied off-the-shelf if the user can provide the right information for ABB to match the drive with the right kit. Relevant information would include the drive's serial number, age and general condition, for instance.

The recommended service interval for a given drive may be anywhere between 5 and 10 years, depending on environmental factors: a high ambient temperature, dirty atmosphere or high cyclical load can all take their toll.

With its Lifecycle Management Programme, ABB helps drives customers optimise the time between overhauls and minimise the likelihood of any problems, without incurring extra costs by over-maintaining the equipment.
