New certification allows accreditation without prior approval

Demonstrating its proficiency in product testing and continuous commitment to quality, scientific consultancy and testing provider Broughton has received ISO 17025 Flexible Scope Accreditation from the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS).

The accreditation, received in April 2024, highlights Broughton’s high quality method validation, laboratory operations and quality assurance.

During the assessment for the flexible scope, Broughton had to demonstrate its laboratories operate to the highest standard and generate reliable results.

The flexible scope allows Broughton to claim accreditation for defined testing beyond the fixed scope without prior approval from UKAS, allowing the company to react quickly to market demands.

“UKAS would only normally accredit a laboratory for Flexible Scope if it had held accreditation for much longer than Broughton has,” said Cherry Bond, Quality Manager at Broughton.

“Receiving the accreditation first time shows the confidence UKAS has in Broughton to manage the flexible scope appropriately.”

“This is a great effort from our Quality and Laboratory Services team,” added Chris Allen, CEO of Broughton.

“The awarding of the Flexible Scope feeds into Broughton’s expansion plans, with plenty more exciting milestones to come in the near future.”
