DKMS is dedicated to the fight against blood cancer, recruiting stem cell donors and providing second chances at life

Blood cancer charity DKMS has thanked Hikma Pharmaceuticals for helping to save the lives of those with a blood cancer by making a donation to the charity.

The donation was made as part of a new fundraising initiative that DKMS has recently launched. With an average of 2000 people in the UK seeking a blood stem cell donor match, DKMS have set up the £2k Club, which organisations can join by donating £2000.

The money raised will help the charity to find lifesavers for those in need of a blood stem cell donation.

A blood stem cell donation is the only chance of survival for many blood cancer patients. Sadly, many patients will not find a matching donor.

This isn’t because a match doesn’t exist, it’s simply because there aren’t enough people registered as donors. That is why DKMS works to increase the size and diversity of the blood stem cell registry, and Hikma Pharmaceuticals is supporting the charity and those in need of a blood stem cell donation.

Speaking about supporting the charity, Hana Darwazeh Ramadan, Vice President of Corporate Communication at Hikma Pharmaceuticals, said: 'We are very pleased to be able to support DKMS on their mission to save the lives of people suffering from blood cancer. As a healthcare company, our aim is to help improve people’s lives globally, and we thank DKMS for giving us the opportunity to reach out to more patients in need.'

Thanking Hikma Pharmaceuticals for their support, Caroline Richardson, Senior Fundraising Manager at DKMS, says: 'A huge thank you to Hikma Pharmaceuticals for supporting our work to find a matching donor for every patient in need of a blood stem cell donation. The money that they have donated via the £2k Club will help us to save lives.'
