Adds capacity to carry out polymorph and salt screening and solid form development

Almac has doubled analytical capacity at its 240,000ft2 North American headquarters in Souderton, PA.

The facility, built on a 40-acre site, and occupied since 2010, delivers full-service, integrated clinical packaging, drug supply management and technology solutions. It houses modern analytical labs, supplementing existing facilities in the UK.

These analytical labs support Almac’s clinical packaging operations as well as stand-alone analytical services and provide HPLC, UPLC, GC, UV, IR, DSC and KF techniques.

The firm says the additional lab investment will enable the firm to continue to offer these services as well as polymorph and salt screening and solid form development. No financial details have been revealed.

The new lab space will also be equipped with the latest bathless dissolution apparatus for rapid and efficient comparative dissolution studies.

Dr Aeri Park, operations director, commented: ‘We always anticipated growth within our facility and are delighted that it has become necessary so quickly.’

The analytical facility complements Almac’s specialist capabilities, including biocatalysis, radiolabelling, and peptide and protein synthesis, which are all part of Almac’s comprehensive drug development services, including API and drug product development and GMP manufacture.
