BASF plans to relocate the global headquarters of its Pharma Ingredients & Services business from Switzerland to Florham Park, New Jersey, US to strengthen its presence in North America.
This division of the German chemical giant produces active pharmaceutical ingredients and excipients, as well as providing custom synthesis services and laboratory support.
Scott Thomson was promoted to senior vice president of Pharma Ingredients & Services this week, succeeding Martin Widmann, who will now head the Fuel & Lubricant Solutions unit in Ludwigshafen, Germany. Thomson was previously vice president Market & Customer Development North America at Florham Park.
Walter Dissinger, president of BASF’s Nutrition & Health division, said: ‘By moving the headquarters of our global business unit to the US, we are strengthening our presence in one of the world’s largest and most innovative markets for pharma products. This will enable us to even better serve the needs and demands of our international customers in the future.’
Over the next six months, three other global management positions in the pharma ingredients unit will be relocated from Switzerland to Florham Park.
BASF says the relocation will not affect the regional business and production units in Europe, including in Evionnaz.
