BioCity Scotland makes board appointment

Allison Jeynes-Ellis takes up the post next month

Allison Jeynes-Ellis has joined the board of BioCity Scotland, the centre for life science businesses based in Newhouse, Lanarkshire. Formerly medical and innovation director at the Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry (ABPI), Jeynes-Ellis will assume the position next month.

Jeynes-Ellis has more than 20 years of industry experience as a cancer specialist. Her early career within the NHS led to medical positions with Ciba Pharmaceuticals, Bristol Myers Squibb as director of oncology, and medical director at Wyeth, UK and Ireland.

In 2005 Jeynes-Ellis became an independent pharmaceutical consultant before moving to the ABPI in 2009. She has subsequently returned to consultancy, which has allowed her to explore new opportunities such as that offered by BioCity Scotland.

As a board member, Jeynes-Ellis will support chairman Louis Nisbet and md Fraser Black in the population of the 23-acre site with new and fast-growing bioscience and life sciences companies.
