Ingredient supplier Corbion has been awarded a 2023 EcoVadis gold medal for its overall achievements in sustainability. This is the seventh year of Corbion's association with EcoVadis, the leading provider of trusted business sustainability ratings, with a global network of more than 100,000 rated companies.

In its assessment, EcoVadis evaluated Corbion's policies, actions and results across all production facilities worldwide, scoring the company's performance in the areas of environment, labour practices, ethics and sustainable procurement. Corbion's overall 2023 score was just a single percentage point lower than its previous – and second consecutive – platinum-level rating; it is based on a revised scoring threshold recently raised higher by EcoVadis.

Sustainable solutions must deliver on all those things. That's an exciting challenge

"The work we have done to achieve our 2023 gold rating, the progress we've made, and the improvements we continue to make in our sustainability efforts at Corbion give us a lot to be proud of," said Olivier Rigaud, CEO. "But sustainability is a never-ending journey, and continuous improvement doesn't happen in an uninterrupted, upward-trending line. Embracing the importance of staying awake to new opportunities to do better, and alert to new risks, is an essential part of our sustainability mindset."

Corbion leverages insights gained from EcoVadis studies over time to enhance collaboration with customers focused on sustainability in a variety of industries, including the food, agrochemicals, pharmaceutical and HPC industries. Corbion's EcoVadis scorecard provides customers with a transparent, unbiased view of the company's dedication to sustainability throughout its business operations.

"Choosing 'to preserve what matters' as Corbion's purpose has challenged every one of our employees to focus on the things that matter most to our customers, to our environment, and to people around the world," said Diana Visser, Senior Director Sustainability. "Sustainable solutions must deliver on all those things. That's an exciting challenge, and this gold medal rating is another important indicator that our global team is up to it."
