Collaborates with Advinus to bring label-free detection technology to India

Advinus Therapeutics, a research-based pharmaceutical company promoted by the Indian Tata Group, and Corning Incorporated are to collaborate to bring Corning’s Epic label-free detection technology to India.

The collaboration will enable Advinus to use Corning’s technology to enhance its drug discovery capabilities and provide assay development and screening services to companies both in India and abroad.

Corning says its Epic technology combines biochemical detection and cellular analysis on a single label-free platform to enable a better understanding of biological activity for a range of research applications. It helps identify targets, pathways, and interactions, providing more biologically relevant data to the drug discovery process, the firm says.

‘We believe this is an important step forward in making our Epic technology more accessible to life science researchers worldwide,’ said Ron Verkleeren, director of Advanced Life Sciences at Corning.

Kasim Mookhtiar, chief scientific officer of Advinus, added: ‘This collaboration on Corning’s Epic technology emphasises Advinus’ commitment to set up unique pharma r&d services in India and to explore new and cutting-edge technologies to enhance our drug discovery capabilities.’
