High performance i-Tech products extend UK product-to-pallet portfolio

Global product identification and traceability specialist Domino will introduce its latest i-Tech intelligent Technology products to the UK market on stand C11 at PPMA 2011, to be held at the NEC, Birmingham from 27-29 September 2011.

Designed to deliver maximum productivity and value, the D620i 60 watt scribing laser and V220i cassette thermal transfer overprinter will sit alongside the recently launched A320i continuous ink jet coder, along with the M-Series print and apply labeller and C-Series outer case coder which forms part of Domino’s comprehensive portfolio.

These latest coding solutions, which deploy a range of smart technologies to make production lines lower maintenance, lower cost and more efficient, are part of the ongoing expansion of the i-Tech intelligent Technology range.

The new A-, D-, and V-Series coders will join a line-up that showcases Domino’s coding and marking capabilities from product to pallet, with a portfolio incorporating the widest range of technologies for primary, secondary and tertiary coding.

The high performance D620i 60W scribing laser joins the D320i and D120i lasers in the D-Series i-Tech range. Despite housing Domino’s most powerful laser yet, each component of the modular system of the D620i is remarkably compact, making for easy integration on host machines.

The D620i also offers RapidScan – a new high-speed option now available across the D-Series i-Tech range that allows users to achieve 20% greater throughput by optimising the space and time available to scribe complex code information. In addition, higher energy density delivers the precision marking required for accurate reproduction of small 2D codes. The D620i features an IP65 industrial enclosure, making it suitable for use in challenging industrial environments.

Also making its UK debut at PPMA 2011 is the V220i, which will bring Domino’s patented ribbon economy, which offers savings of up to 60% through a choice of four operating modes, to a wide range of potential applications in flexible packaging. The V220i is enabled by intelligent Technology to handle complex coding information including linear and 2D barcodes and logos. It also weighs 50% less than its predecessor, and features onboard intelligence that permits management of codes via databases.

Already offering class-leading runtime between ribbon changes, the potential uptime of the V-Series receives a further boost thanks to the cassette mechanism of the V220i, which allows high capacity ribbons to be exchanged in seconds.

Joining the D620i and V220i is the A320i continuous ink jet printer. By incorporating an array of i-Tech intelligent Technology features, Domino has delivered a printer that completely eliminates the need for planned servicing – the first in the industry to do so. The printer delivers tangible environmental benefits, using 90% less system ink and 50% less ink solvent than its predecessor. The A320i is also 40% lighter and incorporates energy-saving software.

QuickStep, a new, simplified graphical user interface currently available on the A320i, and the new D-Series and V-Series ranges, provides effortless control and status reporting, eliminating complex menus and parameters in favour of simple, intuitive set-up routines requiring minimal operator involvement.

The M-Series print and apply labeller will also be on the stand, demonstrating secondary and tertiary coding solutions. Compact, consistent and easy to connect via USB, Ethernet or wireless to users’ networks, the M-Series’ simple routing allows for quick ribbon and label changes to ensure maximum productivity. Joining the M-Series will be Domino’s C-Series, perfect for outer case ink jet coding. Delivering increased productivity, flexibility and profitability, the C-Series eliminates the need for costly additional labelling on outer case packaging, resulting in improved inventory management.

‘After the initial UK launch in March, we are excited to introduce new members of the i-Tech family to the rest of the UK market,’ said Domino UK general manager Will Edwards. ‘PPMA will be a great place to showcase the new coders and we are thrilled to present the benefits of our product to pallet solutions to a home-grown, UK audience.’
