JENAHEXAL uses CI Electronics instrument to checkweigh implants

In line with its commitment to good manufacturing practice and maintaining the highest FDA and EU standards, JENAHEXAL Pharma GmbH has purchased a CI Electronics Depot Checkweigher through Raupack, a supplier of standard and custom machines for the medical, pharmaceutical, aerosol, cosmetic and food industries.

At its plant in Jena, Germany, JENAHEXAL Pharma GmbH uses the CI Depot Checkweigher to 100% checkweigh both clinical trial supplies and production depots. The depots typically weigh 20-30mg. In order to store the readings from the checkweigher and perform statistical analyses, the instrument is connected to a PC running CI Electronics' data logging software.

"The CI Depot Checkweigher is easy to use and easy to clean. It is an essential part of our quality assurance process and reliably weighs about 800 depots per hour," said Jens Machold, the head of implant production at JENAHEXAL Pharma GmbH.

The Depot Checkweigher is capable of weighing depots to an accuracy of +/-0.2mg. Furthermore, the instrument's balance head can be set to recalibrate automatically after every 50 weighings, thereby guaranteeing exceptionally high accuracy.

The system has been designed to function with no loss of performance in a Class 100 sterile environment and it can maintain high levels of accuracy while operating in the arduous conditions created by a laminar flow cabinet. All contact parts are made of high quality 316 stainless steel and can be changed without the use of tools, making the checkweigher very easy to clean and maintain.
