José de Chastonay to be promoted at Bachem Group

Will take over as chief marketing officer in June

Swiss pharmaceutical ingredients manufacturer Bachem has announced that José de Chastonay will succeed Lester Mills as chief marketing officer of the Bachem Group from 1 June. As a member of the corporate executive committee, he will be responsible for marketing and sales activities throughout the group.

De Chastonay began his professional career at Ares Serono as assistant director of biotechnology. He later became international products manager at the diagnostics division of F. Hoffmann-La Roche. He joined Bachem as international marketing manager in 1991. One year later he took charge of Bachem’s subsidiary in Philadelphia, US, and in 1996 was appointed chief operating officer of Bachem California.

After the reorganisation of Bachem Group’s subsidiaries in the US, de Chastonay was appointed president of Bachem Americas and managed the company's marketing and sales operations in the US until 2007. From 2007 to 2009 he was chief executive of Irvine Scientific, and from 2009 senior advisor at Wombat Capital in New York.

Peter Grogg, chairman of Bachem, said: ’José de Chastonay is a highly qualified expert and manager who will serve our company well. Thanks to his many years of previous service at Bachem, he is already very familiar with our core business of peptides and has profound knowledge of the corresponding customers, projects and markets. We will also benefit from his substantial experience in other life sciences areas and expect him significantly to enhance Bachem's future development.’
