MCR gas chiller: -90 degrees celsius measurements now possible

Published: 6-Jan-2022

Anton Paar’s new MCR gas chiller unit, the latest addition to its MCR rheometer, allows users to cool samples to -40 °C, -90 °C (without liquid nitrogen), or even -160 °C (with liquid nitrogen).

The unit is suitable for applications where it’s necessary to preserve the material properties like elasticity and fracture strength of construction materials in cold conditions.

The system is straightforward to use, thanks to the approved Toolmaster function and RheoCompass software, and enables measurements in less than 30 minutes without extended preparation effort.

It also facilitates continuous long-term measurements, or experiments of more than eight hours without icing and embrittling the hoses, and is ideal for situations where the use of liquid nitrogen is prohibited by internal safety regulations.
