New Chair of BCAS low pressure and vacuum group

Gardner Denver representative appointed to British Compressed Air Society’s group

Gardner Denver Vacuum and Blowers Sales Manager, Gareth Topping, has taken up a new role as chair of the British Compressed Air Society’s (BCAS) low pressure and vacuum working group.

The appointment follows Gardner Denver’s work in the last year to raise the profile of exhaust air quality from vacuum pumps and to lobby for new standards to be implemented.

The working group was set up in early 2017 after calls from the wider vacuum industry to establish a unified voice to address market challenges. It will also give companies working across the sector the opportunity to input in to standards and best practice.

“My aim is to raise the profile of vacuum pumps and low pressure blowers and the wide range of technologies available for use in specific industry applications,” said Topping.

“Working with other experts from across the industry, we will be highlighting best practice and the safe application of vacuum and low pressure technologies.”

“As a minimum, we plan to produce a series of technical datasheets to support end users use, and in the long term we will be working alongside the BCAS team to lobby for the introduction of working ISO standards.”

Vanda Jones, BCAS Executive Director, said: “Committees are the grass roots or any trade association. They help members to input on the issues that matter to their customers and ensure that the association is working on the current issues of the day.”

Topping has been working in the compressed air industry for 16 years and has spent that last three years heading up Gardner Denver’s vacuum and low pressure brands.
