Powder Systems’ agitated nutsche filter dryers (ANFDs) include specific design features for maximum productivity such as CIP (Clean-In-Place) and reflux cleaning achieving typically less than 2.5ppm.

The Liverpool, UK-based supplier says the dryers also have underplate heating systems for highly efficient drying; contained discharge with PSL isolator; tapered filter plates and seal design enabling minimum product retention.

In addition, they include totally sealed single piece agitators with differential mixing to provide homogeneity and uniform drying.

PSL’s filter dryers range from lab scale synthesis applications, through to kilo-lab and pilot plant operations and large-scale commercial production, for easy and direct scale-up of chemical process.

The lab size ANFD can be in glass (the GFD) with 0.002m2 to 0.05m2 filtration areas. Larger filter dryers range from 0.05m2 to more than 2.5m2 filtration areas. They can be built to meet the strict manufacturing requirements of aseptic/sterile processes utilising gas lift-off mechanical seals, unique offloading designs, CIP and SIP (Steam-In-Place) capabilities.

PSL’s high containment glovebox isolators can be incorporated for the safe handling of highly potent APIs or cytotoxic compounds.

This total process solution enables safe product offloading, contained sampling and total heel recovery for maximum product yield, all designed and integrated by PSL.
