Global pump specialist Watson-Marlow Bredel has launched its 720 series of cased pumps, offering the perfect solution for single-use or fixed bioprocessing systems.

Featuring a smaller footprint than other pumps with a similar flow rate, the new 720 series provides low pulse, low shear pumping with single channel flows up to 2,000 litres/hour, or a maximum of 4,000 litres/hour through two individual tubes. They share the same control, user interface and footprint as the lower flow 620 and 520 pumps for easy scale-up.

Unlike lobe pumps, cleaning validation is not necessary as the disposable tube is the only thing to touch the fluid, eliminating the risk of contamination of the fluid by the pump.

The 720 pumps feature Watson-Marlow Bredel's patented LoadSure pumping elements, which use sanitary Tri-Clamp style connectors to provide long tube life through accurate loading. Sanitary elements are USP Class VI validated and are individually laser-etched with lot numbers for cGMP record keeping.

LoadSure offers rapid maintenance as only the pumping element needs changing, a job which takes less than a minute and requires no specialist skills. Additionally, if a joint-free fluid passage from source to delivery is required, continuous tubing models are available.

The 720 provides robustness and reliability for accurate filling, bag mixing, filtration feed and live cell transfer, Watson-Marlow Bredel says, while corrosion-resistant IP66 casework resists harsh cleaning regimes.
