Chemicals maker Rockwood Holdings plans to sell its Groupe Novasep subsidiary, French provider of synthesis and purification solutions for the life science industries, to a consortium led by Gilde Buyout Partners for approximately Euro 425m.

Groupe Novasep, which is 78.6% owned by Rockwood, will be bought by a consortium of Gilde, Banexi Capital and Groupe Novasep management.

The subsidiary produces active pharmaceutical ingredients, and develops purification processes, and Novasep ceo Roger Marc Nicoud said of the acquisition: 'Rockwood allowed Novasep to grow dramtically in the last two years, and acted as a very responsible and committed partner,' adding that 'our common vision was for our co-operation with Rockwood to be limited in time.'
