The day-long programme offers formulators of solid dosage forms an opportunity to understand better the options available to enhance the solubility of poorly soluble APIs. The programme will outline the theory and basis for formulating poorly soluble APIs as solid dispersions, wherein the API is dispersed in a polymer matrix at the molecular level or nanoparticle level as amporphous material and produced by hot melt extrusion or spray drying. When formulated and processed correctly, the finished oral dosage forms are proven to increase drug surface area, reduce drug crystallinity and remain stable during storage
