Aims to shape regulation and strengthen links along the supply chain

Any UK business with an interest in nanotechnology is eligible to join the newly created Nanotechnology – Linking the Supply Chain Forum.

The Forum was launched at the Nanotechnology – UK Challenges to Commercialisation conference at the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills in London.

‘The UK has great potential to be the key global player in the development of nanotechnology to drive new commercial success and solve many of societies challenges,’ said Diana Montgomery, Chemical Industries Association director.

‘However new technology means new regulation that will impact the whole supply chain – so it is essential that key players act to ensure the success of nanotechnology in the UK by engaging with each other and decision makers now.’

Science Minister, Rt Hon David Willets MP added: ‘It is vital for scientists, industry and government to discuss openly the potential uses for nanomaterials, as well as reassuring people that potential hazards are properly managed to minimise risk to human health and the environment.’

The Nanotechnology – Linking the Supply Chain Forum aims to: shape regulation; strengthen links along the supply chain; and ensure sustainable development of nanotechnology

The Forum will provide: regular email updates and a dedicated web page; meetings to exchange views; and an annual seminar with relevant external presenters.

Any UK business with an interest in nanotechnology is encouraged to join, along with regulatory affairs/product managers and service providers.

Membership of the Forum is free to Chemical Industries Association Members.
