UltRx 6000 film protects medicines in all countries

Joins the Aclar family of clear pharmaceutical packaging films

Honeywell says its Aclar UltRx 6000 clear pharmaceutical packaging film protects moisture-sensitive medicines in all climates, allowing pharmaceutical firms to standardise their product packaging with one solution that will work in all regions of the world.

Aclar UltRx 6000 joins the firm’s Aclar family of films, which can help reduce drug package sizes by up to 55% compared with cold-formed foil, the firm says.

The film can be also used in existing thermoforming equipment, with only minor adjustments.

‘This Aclar film gives pharmaceutical companies a clear, ultra-high barrier choice for their most moisture-sensitive drugs sold in the most challenging regions,’ said Jeff Czarnecki, global leader of Honeywell’s healthcare and packaging business.

‘This new film will help pharmaceutical companies around the world protect their medicines, simplify their supply chains, and improve their branding.’

Aclar UltRx 6000 is a 6mil, 152mm thermoformable film that provides a low water/moisture vapour transmission rate (WVTR/MVTR), which helps to protect drugs especially in many parts of South America, Africa, India, and Southeast Asia.

Aclar films are crystal clear, biochemically inert, chemical-resistant, nonflammable, and plasticiser- and stabiliser-free. They are based on polychlorotrifluoroethylene (PCTFE) fluoropolymer technology and can improve patient compliance by presenting see-through, portable and patient-friendly packs.
