ROSS Dual Shaft Mixers are versatile, robust and cost-effective systems engineered for accurate processing of high-performance formulations across a wide range of rheologies, solids loading, operating temperatures and pressures. The ROSS CDA-300 Dual Shaft Mixer, pictured below, features two powerful agitators: a two-wing anchor agitator driven by a 20 HP TEFC high-efficiency, inverter duty motor and a high-speed disperser powered by a 60 HP TEFC high-efficiency, inverter duty motor. The open disc blade of the disperser, which travels at roughly 5,000 feet per minute, is designed to induce vigorous turbulent flow. It creates a vortex into which dry ingredients can be poured for fast wetting. The anchor feeds product towards the high-speed disperser blade and ensures constant turnover, even as the batch gains viscosity.
The CDA-300's change can design features an air/oil hydraulic lift that allows for the use of multiple mix cans, which are constructed of stainless steel type 304 and include a heating/cooling jacket on the sidewalls and bottom for temperature control. A 3" manually operated stainless steel flush bottom ball valve with tri-clamp connection facilitates easy discharge, while casters allow for easy movement around the production floor. Designed for vacuum operation, the Dual Shaft Mixer produces air-free products with highly repeatable density, viscosity, composition, and dispersion quality. The NEMA 12 control panel is supplied with a 7" colour touch screen for user-friendly operation, providing independent agitator speed controls, load display, cycle timer, and other functions. Safety features include NEMA 12 limit switches to prevent operation when the mix can is removed or the agitators are not in the mixing position.
