Sanofi appoints chairman of SDSAC

Dr Gary Nabel succeeds Dr Richard Klausner

Gary Nabel has become chairman of Sanofi’s Strategic Development and Scientific Advisory Council (SDSAC).

Dr Nabel, currently senior vice president, chief scientific officer and deputy to Elias Zerhouni, president, Global R&D, will succeed Richard Klausner. He will direct the activities of the Council, including selection, appointment and evaluation of advisers.

Created in November 2010, the Council aims to enhance scientific discovery in a collaborative approach and to develop a world-class research and development platform for future innovation. The Council’s role is to advise Sanofi on new and emerging areas of science and technology as well to create a strong network of scientists and institutional partnerships.
