The strategic acquisition will boost IMA's suppository packaging capabilities with a number of novel lines

IMA Group, a packaging automation specialist for the pharmaceutical industry, has completed the acquisition of Sarong’s packaging sector.

This includes both the packaging machinery and packaging materials divisions of the company, which are both based in Reggiolo, Italy.

Sarong Packaging Machinery division designs, manufactures and sells automatic thermoforming form, fill & seal (FFS), as well as fill & seal (FS) packaging machines for pharmaceutical customers specifically focusing on suppository packaging.

The company has extended its offer of FFS packaging lines during recent years, adding models for small, medium and large production — with a manufacturing capacity of 6,000–30,000 suppositories per hour.

IMA Group’s acquisition of Sarong Packaging Machinery and Packaging Materials, which has a combined workforce of 125 employees, will allow the company to bolster its presence in the pharmaceutical market.

Together with the IMA Safe portfolio of cartoning machines and the IMA End of Line Hub, IMA is now providing complete lines even in this sector.
