Aesica golf day raises £6,000 for charity

Nineteen teams of four support two charities

A charity golf day hosted by Aesica Pharmaceuticals, based in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, UK, raised more than £6,000 for charity.

The event, held at Matfen Hall in Northumberland, was attended by 19 teams of four, including members of staff and clients of the pharmaceutical firm and representatives from the two charities supported.

Local children’s charity, Bravehearts of the North East, which helps sick and disabled children in the North East, had their own team at the event led by Dave Hodgkins and Jim Knight.

Sally Hardy, founder of Northern Red Squirrels, represented Red Squirrels Survival Trust (RSST).

The team from the North East Process Industry Cluster (NEPIC), comprising Paul Butler, Phil Hollowood, Richard Tweddle and Paul Gotts, was the eventual winner.

More than £3,000 was raised for each charity from entry fees, an auction and donations. Marriott, Business Travel and Vodafone donated the competition prizes.

Dr Robert Hardy, chief executive of Aesica, said: ‘I’d like to thank everyone involved in what was a very enjoyable and successful day. Aesica is committed to supporting the local community and this wouldn’t be possible without the generous support of our staff and clients.’
