Aesica listed in Sunday Times HSBC International Track 200
Named as second-best performing company in the North East as international sales grow
UK contract pharmaceutical manufacturer Aesica has been listed in the Sunday Times HSBC International Track 200, a newly created list that ranks Britain’s private companies with the fastest growing international sales.
The table listed Aesica as the second best performing company in the North East after its international sales grew by 37% over the course of the two years to December 2011. International sales now represent 98% of the company’s overall turnover.
Dr Robert Hardy, chief executive of Aesica, said: ‘As a growing global company, it is a real boost to be named as one of Britain’s most successful businesses in terms of international sales. While our roots are firmly in the North East where Aesica was first formed, as we look to build our presence overseas it’s encouraging to be recognised at a global level in such a prestigious league table.’
Aesica has ambitions to become the leading supplier of active pharmaceutical ingredients and formulated products to the pharmaceutical industry. To achieve this, the firm’s international market share has to be significant. As it targets further acquisitions in the North American and Asian markets, there is scope to build on this year’s Sunday Times’ ranking and break into the top 100 in 2013.
To make the Sunday Times International Track 200 list, companies had to be registered in the UK and be independent, unquoted and ultimate holding companies. They were ranked on their compound annual growth rate in international sales over a two-year period between 2008 and 2012, depending on their latest available accounts. Total sales had to be at least £25m and international sales at least £1m in the latest financial year.
