The manufacturing company has secured a deal through Sycamore Process Engineering in order to supply gasketed plate exchanger from hygienic line in UK

Alfa Laval has agreed a deal to supply its first gasketed plate heat exchanger (GPHE) from its newly launched hygienic line in the UK.

The deal has been secured through Alfa Laval’s only Master Integrator in the UK, Sycamore Process Engineering. Based in Somerset, Sycamore Process Engineering are the experts in end-to-end process solutions for the Dairy, Food, Beverage and Plant-based industries.

Colin Morgan, Business Unit Manager at Alfa Laval, said: “Sycamore is a long-term collaborator of Alfa Laval, first joining us as an Authorised Integrator in 2021 and rising up to become a Master Integrator earlier this year.

“As the only UK-based company that can lay claim to this title, this position is testament to their team’s exemplary knowledge of both the wider industry and Alfa Laval solutions. We hope that the sale of our first hygienic line heat exchanger through Sycamore marks the start of another successful chapter in our collaboration.”

The new line, which was launched earlier this year, has been designed to help manufacturers maximise uptime on process operations, while also maintaining exacting hygiene standards.

Available in two sizes – H4 and the larger H8, the heat exchanger features an enhanced transfer area for more uniform heat distribution and best-in-class efficiency, and a new cleaning-in-place (CIP) channel for improved cleanability.

Together, these features combine for longer operating times, while the GPHE’s bespoke plate pattern ensures gentle treatment of delicate products. The unit is also fully configurable, allowing it to be customised to the needs of the operation rather than necessitating the purchase of new exchangers.

Paul Manning, Business Development & Commercial Director at Sycamore Process Engineering, added: “The launch of the hygienic line provides our end customers with significant process upgrade opportunities. With best-in-class efficiency and cleanability, we can reduce cleaning times, maximise uptime, and in turn achieve a better margin.

“We work closely with the in-house engineering teams of our customers to design and manufacture process solutions, and when the benefits of the hygienic line were explained, the customer was very keen to integrate it as part of their set-up. I’m sure that this sale will be the first of many in the UK.”
