Quality packaging and processing have become of increasing importance to China, as was evidenced by the interest in the 57th API China Fair (China International Pharmaceutical Ingredients Fair) that took place at the Qingdao International Exhibition Centre from November 15-17. The show was deemed a success and will run again in May next year.
Organised by Reed Sinopharm Exhibitions (RSE), the event was combined with the first ever Interphex China exhibition.
API China is an international event for pharmaceutical manufacturers in Asia looking to source and acquire ingredients, processing and packaging equipment and materials. As customers at Interphex China also trade processing and packaging equipment, materials and services, combining the two events has provided pharmaceutical manufacturers with a greater reason to visit.
A total of 1,189 domestic and international exhibitors took part, with an indoor exhibition covering 38,000 sq m. Of the 33,656 visitors, 702 came from 64 different countries - a dramatic increase over last year's figures, says the organiser.
The event attracted the support of the People's Republic of China, Ministry of Commerce, the Qingdao Municipal Government, the China Pharmaceutical Industry Association, the China National Pharmaceutical Industry Corporation, and the China Pharmaceutical Packaging Association.
Leading global companies, including DSM, Capsugel, Rousselot Gelatin, BASF, Degussa, Colorcon, and Neveen, were represented alongside domestic manufacturers such as the North China Pharmaceutical Group, the Haerbin Pharmaceutical Group, Shijiazhuang Pharmaceutical Group, Shandong Xinhua and Shandong Lukang.
The next joint API/Interphex China exhibition will take place in Nanjing from 15-17 May 2007.
