Bachem to increase working hours in Switzerland
As a result of the strong Swiss franc
Bachem Group, a Swiss biotech company, will increase working hours at its plants in Bubendorf and Vionnaz to 43 hours a week because of the strength of the Swiss franc.
The measure takes place on 1 April 2012 and will be in effect for two years.
The firm said earlier that its results had been heavily affected by the strength of the Swiss franc. In the first six months of 2011, foreign currency translation reduced sales by CHF9.2m (€7.5m), a drop of 10.6%. EBIT fell by CHF5.7m (-36%).
The firm said the move would enhance the Group’s competitiveness in international markets, thereby strengthening its Swiss operations and improving job security.
