The environmental services business unit at Bayer Industry Services has launched an environmental support program for its clients, grouping its different services under the motto 'clean the extreme'.

BIS environmental services specialises in the disposal of chemically contaminated hazardous waste and the remediation of contaminated sites. The business unit offers customers integrated disposal management - including on-site consultancy and transport to Bayer's incineration and landfill facilities (for hazardous waste) and treatment plants (for chemical wastewater).

Bayer's environmental services plants are interlinked, ensuring that only clean air and treated water leave the disposal network. Further services include collecting and recycling reusable materials, remediating contaminated sites and cleaning containers and tank cars.

The process of receiving assignments and classifying hazardous waste, and then documenting transport and disposal procedures, is controlled using an online waste management information system ('AMIS') which utilises the technical content of Bayer Business Services' Health, Safety & Environment product line.

The BIS environmental analytics unit are available when the compositions of individual waste products need to be identified. Qualified experts determine the contents, ensuring safe disposal.

Chemion Logistik is BIS environmental service's cooperation partner, responsible for transporting waste products safely.

A technology competence centre with BIS environmental services develops disposal facilities that satisfy market requirements - such as the effective disposal of chemically contaminated hazardous waste.

Bayer says it aims to provide these different environmental services to its customers as part of one integrated support program.
