Bio-Images Group and CPS Research form partnership
Glasgow firms will combine formulation development and clinical trial capabilities
Glasgow, Scotland-based research organisations Bio-Images Group and CPS Research, have entered into a strategic partnership that combines their formulation development expertise and clinical trial capabilities to speed up the time it takes to bring enhanced drug formulations to market.
The partners have cemented their partnership following the successful completion this year of its first joint venture, a Phase I clinical study for a major pharmaceutical client.
Contract research organisation Bio-Images Group includes Bio-Images Research, a specialist in gamma scintigraphy for imaging the behaviour of drug formulations, and drug formulation development company Drug Delivery International (DDi).
CPS Research is a clinical research organisation with more than 20 years’ experience in patient recruitment and conducting Phase II, III and IV trials in most therapeutic areas.
Marrying Bio-Images’ scientific experience in pharmaceutics and drug delivery with CPS’s clinical capabilities will enable the partners to offer integrated pharmaceutical and clinical development solutions. They say benefits include access to a wide patient base and a clinical research ward facility at Bio-Images’ site in the Glasgow Royal Infirmary.
Commenting on the partnership, Professor Howard Stevens of the Bio-Images Group said: ‘Customers of both companies will benefit both from the close integration of pharmaceutical and clinical development services and from reduced development timelines.’
Dr Alan Wade of CPS added: ‘In the current climate of reducing medical research being conducted in the UK, it is important that we are able to offer our customers a unique service of the very highest quality.’
