BioDuro-Sundia cuts the ribbon on Chinese kilogram-scale pilot production laboratory

The CRDMO can now scale-up the synthesis of drug candidates with complex APIs and advanced intermediates to preclinical/clinical phases

BioDuro-Sundia has officially inaugurated its new kilo laboratory at its R&D campus in Shanghai.

The pilot-scale production laboratory enables the scale-up synthesis of drug substances in kilogram measures, allowing the company to supply clients in the discovery, preclinical and clinical phases of development with reliable products.

Onsite, BioDuro has a number of large-capacity reactors, allowing the CRDMO to produce multiple batches simultaneously.

There are also high and low temperature jacketed reactors — as well as low temperature spherical reactors — facilitating scale-up reactions of various APIs with multiple steps.

BioDuro has also installed advanced safety evaluation instruments into the lab, which provide safety data to ensure reaction routes are safe and efficient.

This announcement follows the recent opening of a new compound management centre at the Shanghai site.

The centre is suitable for the systematic storage, handling and management of compounds, which is available for clients.

CEO of BioDuro-Sundia, Dr Armin Spura, commented: "Our new kilogram laboratory exemplifies BioDuro-Sundia's unwavering commitment to advancing our CRDMO platform and delivering exceptional value to our global partners,"

"This state-of-the-art facility enables us to scale up production with greater speed and flexibility, expediting the journey of drug candidates from discovery to the clinic, and ultimately helping to address critical unmet medical needs."
