Biotium, a leader in advanced fluorescent reagents for life science research, announces the launch of its ExoBrite™ CD9/CD63/CD81 Antibody Cocktails, designed for rapid, reliable phenotyping or high-coverage staining of extracellular vesicles (EVs) by flow cytometry. Offered in single-colour or 3-coloroptions, both antibody mixtures offer unmatched brightness and signal-to-noise, streamlining multi-marker EV analysis without the need for tedious optimisation.
The ExoBrite™ CD9/CD63/CD81 cocktails target the three most widely used EV markers—CD9, CD63, and CD81—using fluorophore-conjugated antibodies that deliver the same high performance as Biotium’s individual ExoBrite™ Flow Antibody Conjugates. The 3-colour option is designed for phenotyping and is offered in two distinct spectral combinations— blue/green/far-red and green/orange/far-red. The single-colour option is designed for high-coverage EV staining and is offered in green, orange, or far-red. Both options allow for flexibility in panel design and seamless integration into existing flow cytometry workflows.
SEC-purified HEK 293-derived EVs were stained with ExoBrite™ CD9/CD63/CD81 3-Colour Antibody Cocktail (Blue/Green/Far-Red) and clear staining was seen in all 3 channels (top row). The same antibody cocktail was run in PBS, and very few aggregates are seen (bottom row). Staining was detected in the V450 (Pacific Blue), B525 (FITC), and R660 (APC) channels.
Key features of both Single-Colour and 3-Colour ExoBrite™ CD9/CD63/CD81 Antibody Cocktails:
- Single-colour cocktail designed for high-coverage EV staining
- 3-color cocktail designed for phenotyping analysis
- Each antibody optimised for bright, efficient EV staining
- Low-aggregation formulation ensures high signal-to-noise
- Cost-efficient 3-in-1 mixture saves time and reagents
- Compatible with multi-target panels and general EV surface stains
“ExoBrite™ tetraspanin antibody conjugates are popular tools for EV labeling for flow cytometry, and we know many of our customers combine them and stain all three tetraspanins simultaneously", says Dr. Alexis Madrid, head of Biotium’s EV product development group. “This inspired us to create optimised tetraspanin antibody cocktails to make it even easier for our customers to stain EVs with their preferred workflow.”
Unlike conventional antibodies that may not be validated for EV detection, ExoBrite™ Flow Antibodies and cocktails are tested specifically on isolated EVs, ensuring reliable tetraspanin profiling. A proprietary formulation reduces antibody aggregation and maximises staining accuracy.
