Swiss processing specialist Bosch Packaging Technology has extended its product portfolio in time for the Interpack 2008 show in Duesseldorf, Germany.

The company will unveil its new GKF HiProTect - an integrated containment capsule filling system for processing potent substances. The new machine is claimed to respond to the needs of pharmaceutical researchers and manufacturers for complete protection from active substances during operation, maintenance, and cleaning. The system offers a fully integrated check weighing system and features integrated wash-in-place and clean-in-place options.

Bosch's FXS 2010 is an automatic filling and sealing machine for pre-sterilised nested syringes in a tub, such as BD Hypak SCF. It is designed for filling syringes with volumes between 0.5mL up to 50 mL and has a performance output of up to 4,800 syringes per hour. Product contacting parts are made from stainless steel (AISI 316L) and the machine is operated using a touch panel. Servo motors individually control the transportation system and pump, and the nests are manually placed in and removed from the machine.

The FXS 5100 is a filling and sealing machine for pre-sterilised nested syringes. Its pump station with 10 filling positions for rotary piston pumps is driven by a two-axis servo system. Performance output is up to 30,000 per hour, and it handles syringe ranges from 0.5 to 50mL. The system provides extreme filling needle precision and adaptability to different formats and products.

The VRK 4120 capping system for vials features precision vial placement via an infeed wheel. Overseal capping is performed by sealing rollers, guaranteeing negligible particle generation. The VRK 4120 features 12 closing heads with a processing range between 2 to 500mL with a maximum output of 27,000 vials per hour. Vial rotation is monitored and confirmed by a monitoring system, and vials are rejected when stoppers and caps are missing.

Sigpack Systems, a Bosch Packaging Technology Company, will also showcase its award-winning Burgopak system, which features a patented sliding mechanism that is suitable for pharmaceutical packaging formats. The key benefit is its slide mechanism.

"Bosch's packaging and processing technology is oriented around a holistic approach that allows manufacturers to make strategic, long-term decisions when acquiring a piece of capital equipment," said Soeren Braeutigam, director of global marketing for Bosch Packaging Technology. "With an emphasis on quality, efficiency, and high functionality, Bosch's flexible technology enables producers to proactively respond to market trends in this sometimes volatile sector. We are not just machine builders, we are long-term partners who help companies compete and grow in a crowded market space."
