Cerestar innovations respond to excipient needs

C*Sorbidex P and C*Sorbidex S, innovative and cost-effective grades of sorbitol from Cerestar Food & Pharma Specialities Europe, are answering demands for non-animal based and non-synthetic excipients. C*Sorbidex P is used for sugar-free lozenge-type tablets, while C*Sorbidex S can be used for chewable tablets.

Both grades have good flow and compressibility, as well as low weight variation, high binding capacity, low friability, good compatibility and high dilution potential. Furthermore, the absence of fermentation by oral bacteria means C*Sorbidex S will not cause caries.

C*Sorbidex P and S are white crystalline powders with a maximum moisture content of 0.5%; both C*Sorbidex grades can be considered as non-hygroscopic at 60% relative humidity. 'We have the expertise to optimise the functionality of sophisticated products such as C*Sorbidex P and S which demonstrate the versatile application focus of natural, starch-based specialty ingredients,' said Mark Wastijn of Cerestar Food & Pharma Specialties Europe.
