The Italian-based Coesia Group has completed the acquisition of the card personalisation and packaging divisions of Atlantic Zeiser. The divisions will be joining the group as an independent unit, maintaining their headquarters in Emmingen-Liptingen, Germany. Zeiser’s banknote serialisation and individualisation of security documents activities are not part of the acquisition and will now operate under the name Zeiser GmbH.
The Coesia group consists of innovation-based industrial and packaging solutions companies.
Within the group, Zeiser will focus on digital inline printing in both packaging and card personalisation divisions. In packaging, fast-moving consumer goods, cosmetics and pharmaceuticals will be targeted. Within cards, it will be ID, gift, and customer loyalty cards.
The deal includes the parallel acquisition of majority shares in Triton, a company that manufactures innovative special inks for digital industrial printing. This will provide Zeiser with in-house ink production. In-house ink production is a key part of the company’s business model.
Commenting on the acquisition, Obitz said: “Our technologies enable users to implement efficient inline or near-line product packaging individualization solutions.”
The new company will operate independently in the market, whilst simultaneously benefitting from synergy effects where it is efficient and appropriate. Newly led by Thomas Obitz, previously Commercial Director, Zeiser will use the market access presented by Coesia as an opportunity to accelerate growth.
