Cole-Parmer has introduced three overhead mixers designed to provide operators with a breadth of features for large batch mixing, including dependable motor speed control, specific mixing capabilities, easy maintenance and safety mechanisms.
The mixers include no wear parts that require servicing. These mixers are suitable in the laboratory or manufacturing process.
Three models are available, each designed with features to meet a variety of mixing needs and budgets. The SD laboratory overhead mixer rotates at 50 to 2500 rpm with a maximum torque of 91 in-oz (64 N·cm) and has a through-shaft capability. Its precision digital controller is used to turn on and set the speed, timer, direction of rotation, and torque limits for the mixer motor.
The SP mixer features the same rpm range, maximum torque and through-shaft capability, but employs a variable-speed controller to turn on and set the speed and direction of the motor. The GP mixer, on the other hand, rotates at 40 to 4000 rpm with a maximum torque of 9.5 in-oz (6.7 N·cm). A speed control knob is used to turn on and set the speed of the mixer motor and provides a 100:1 adjustment range. Ideal for light-duty mixing of water-like fluids.
All mixers include the “soft-start” feature and smooth, gradual adjustment to the speed setting, the company says. Constant speed is maintained electronically via automatic compensation for changes in load torque demands at both high and low speeds. Built-in motor current compensation is designed to minimise speed drift with changes in load. Motor current limiting protects the system in case of a locked rotor condition. Output circuit protection is included to protect against inadvertent output shorting.
