Business consultancy Croner has launched Croner-i Hazardous Substances, an interactive online service to provide health & safety and chemical professionals with practical, regulatory and substance information for efficient daily management of dangerous and hazardous chemicals.
The service provides a legal reference and advice service covering more than 100,000 substances and over 60 topics, including commentary on areas such as REACH, GHS, COSHH, and CHIP.
In the increasingly regulated chemical industry, it is designed as a single reference point to help efficiently meet safety regulations and standards, such as the Responsible Care industry benchmark.
Topics can be searched for by keyword, and specific substances by CAS, UN, EC, Index number, or by substance name. Croner-i Hazardous Substances also provides information on current and new legislation, health & safety and chemical news, articles, and downloadable model forms and policies.
The database combines EINECs, ELINCs, The No Longer Polymers List, The Official List of Dangerous Substances and ADR as the core legal inventories, with detailed chart-based content.
Information on topics such as health and environment effects, and emergency spillage and first aid, is presented along with classification and labelling data, carriage and handling information, as well as general substance content.
With the industry facing the toughening of COMAH last year, and potential imminent changes due to the forthcoming REACH directive and Abnormal Hazards Regulations, safety professionals need to stay informed of developments, says Croner.
