Eagle, a Cambridge, UK-based bioinformatics software and services company, has made a number of key appointments including a new Vice President of Global Sales, and internal promotions for the Chief Scientific Officer and Chief Technical Officer positions.
Michael Reynolds joins Eagle as Vice President of Global Sales, while Will Spooner and Glenn Proctor are promoted to Chief Scientific Officer and Chief Technical Officer, respectively.
The new roles are part of Eagle’s on-going growth, which includes a series of new customer contracts and the development of a bioinformatics software platform for the intelligent sharing of genomic data and metadata, which will be launched later this year.
Reynolds was previously Director, EMEA Sales, at Pilgrim Software, and before that he worked at Smart Analyst, APC Pharma and Etrials. He has been working for pharmaceutical companies or selling to life science and other organisations for more than 20 years.
Will Spooner moves into the newly created role of Chief Scientific Officer
Spooner moves into the newly created role of Chief Scientific Officer. He is a seasoned bioinformatician with a track record of delivering tools for high-throughput genomics research. Having worked previously on Ensembl, BioMart, Gramene and WormBase at the European Bioinformatics Institute, the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute and Cold Spring Harbor. His current focus is on making life easier for users of open source/data in commercial settings.
Proctor moves into the Chief Technical Officer role where he will be responsible for managing and improving Eagle’s systems to support customers.
He previously led the software development of Ensembl at the European Bioinformatics Institute. Prior to that, he explored business applications in areas as diverse as artificial life technologies, mobile phone capacity planning and games.
