Published: 3-Oct-2011

Makes available €105m of funding

The European Commission has released another call for research proposals under the European Union (EU) Innovative Medicines Initiative (IMI), and is making €105m of funding available.

Brussels has highlighted priority topics for research projects more likely to attract funding.

These include:

  • Information systems for patient data;
  • Translation and knowledge management;
  • Delivery and targeting mechanisms for biological macromolecules;
  • Biopharmaceutical tools for oral drug delivery; sustainable chemistry;
  • Pluripotent stem cells for drug discovery and safety assessment; and
  • Binding kinetics in drug discovery

The IMI promotes pre-competitive pharmaceutical research and development, targeting funding bottlenecks that can hold up the creation of new medicines.
