Faller Packaging is expanding its European pharmaceutical packaging footprint through the acquisition of Greek packaging specialist Paperpack.
The deal will bring Paperpack into the Faller Packaging Group and is intended to create a stronger platform for serving pharma and healthcare customers across South-Eastern Europe.
Athens-based Paperpack, established in 1891, specialises in secondary pharmaceutical packaging, producing folding cartons and leaflets.
The company says it manufactures more than 600 million folding boxes and 200 million pharmaceutical leaflets annually.
Its portfolio includes folding cartons with features such as Braille, embossing, specialist varnishes and other finishing options, as well as pharmaceutical inserts and outserts.
The acquisition of Paperpack, Faller said in its statement, will complement the German-headquartered company's existing network.
It operates across Europe and currently has more than 1500 employees, supplying folding cartons, labels, leaflets and combination products.
Dagmar Schmidt, CEO of Faller Packaging, said the acquisition represents “another important step” in executing the company’s growth strategy.
By joining forces, we strengthen our presence in South-Eastern Europe and expand our ability to support customers across the region.
"At the same time, we are reinforcing our commitment to being a trusted partner to the pharmaceutical and healthcare industries."
The deal comes as pharma packaging suppliers face increasing demands around supply-chain resilience, regulatory compliance and sustainability.
Faller has recently expanded its offering in areas including digital printing, pre-packaging services and fibre-based alternatives to plastic trays, while also developing solutions designed to meet evolving European packaging requirements.
For Paperpack, CEO Dimitris Tsiftsis added that joining Faller would provide access to broader capabilities and products, as well as a European network, while allowing the company to retain its focus on flexibility, reliability and customer relationships.
“We are proud of what we have built over the years: a strong pharmaceutical packaging business based on quality, reliability and long-standing customer relationships."
In Faller Packaging, we have found a strategic partner that shares our values and our long-term vision.
The companies added that the combination is expected to create new growth opportunities while maintaining their existing quality and service standards.
The transaction is subject to the necessary regulatory approvals, but further details on the integration have not yet been disclosed.
