FMC Lithium has commissioned its first factory in India near Hyderabad to manufacture organolithium compounds primarily used in the bulk drug industry.

The organolithium sector of the India pharmaceutical market is growing rapidly due to the extensive production of drugs to treat cardio-vascular diseases and HIV infection.

As the leading global manufacturer of organolithium compounds, FMC has been supplying major producers in India through imports from the US, but the new facility will enable the company to service the growing demand of customers in India while efficiently managing its supply chain.

FMC's Lithium Division supplies many well-known generic manufacturers and works closely with several custom research and manufacturing organisations in India. In the future, the company plans to export organolithiums and allied organometallic products to Asia and other parts of the world.
