G-Con and GE Healthcare to develop vaccine factory in a box
Will collaborate on portable manufacturing system for vaccines and therapeutics
Texas-based G-Con Manufacturing and GE Healthcare plan to collaborate on the development of a modular portable bio-process manufacturing system for vaccines and therapeutics.
The agreement will combine GE Healthcare's global presence and expertise in biopharmaceutical manufacturing technology with G-Con's modular portable flexible cleanroom technology.
The firms say the collaboration will offer comprehensive GMP manufacturing solutions that are less expensive and quicker to build and maintain, as well as easier to operate than any existing solution.
‘This collaboration is part of GE Healthcare's mission to increase speed and access, and reduce cost for developers and manufacturers of bio-therapeutics and vaccines around the world,’ said Nigel Darby, vice president of biotechnologies at GE Healthcare.
‘This collaboration means we move further towards our vision of modular and possibly mobile flexible biopharmaceutical manufacturing facilities – the vaccine factory in a box.’
G-Con Manufacturing provides new technologies and processes to the therapeutic manufacturing industry.
