The polypropylene piping system is designed to safely transport waste chemicals and to protect people and the environment from exposure to hazardous liquids. FUSEAL is a full-system solution from “sink to drain” that has been implemented in laboratories as well industrial settings such as chemical processing, health, and food & beverage.
In these applications, it provides a number of benefits:
- Durability: Polypropylene is a lightweight material with excellent chemical and corrosion-resistance that has a longer service life compared to metal. It is capable of handling continuous temperatures from 0°C to 82°C and intermittent temperatures of up to 100°C.
- Safety: in dimensions from 38mm to 152mm, FUSEAL is flame retardant as standard with a UL-94 rating of V-2, and an ASTM D635 rating of HB. Both non-flame- and flame-retardant options are available from 203mm to 457mm.
- Versatility: FUSEAL is approved for use by ASTM F1412 and capable of being installed in accordance with EN12056 and EN1852-1. In addition, it can be implemented below and above ground thanks to UV-resistant pigmentation.
- Ease of use: Pipe connections are facilitated either by the patented fast-lock mechanical jointing system or user-friendly electrofusion. Combined with prefabrication, FUSEAL can be installed up to 50% faster.
"By combining a sink to drain approach with bespoke fabrication, FUSEAL will significantly add value and help streamline projects for our customers.”
With local manufacturing capabilities, the introduction of FUSEAL also addresses the unique requirements of the UK market. By avoiding international shipping, customers benefit from a faster delivery of a factory built and tested system. At the same time, an extended range of fabricated fittings as well as bespoke pre-fabrication speed up the installation process by reducing the on-site workload as well as labour costs.
Ross Bates, Product Manager – Industrial Product Management at GF Piping Systems, comments on the launch: “Most major pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities and top universities around the world currently have FUSEAL installed. We are therefore delighted to be introducing these piping systems to the UK."
