Following Cool Logistics’ acquisition by DS Smith in 2012, the temperature-controlled packaging business has been incorporated into the company’s Plastics division. This section of the business, with its multi-material and global operations, is supporting Cool Logistics to further promote its worldwide offering.
As part of Cool Logistics’ strategic development, the company is looking to expand further in Europe by working more closely with the wider DS Smith business. To support this expansion, Cool Logistics has recently implemented a new initiative to launch its development of a Cool Logistics brand franchise, with the aim ultimately to establish a brand sales network.
The new ‘School of Cool’ training programme was delivered to Cool Logistics’ European colleagues from France, Germany, Sweden and Denmark, and focused on the entire temperature-controlled packaging and cold chain business environments.
This inaugural three-day event marked a significant step in the continuing development of Cool Logistics under the DS Smith umbrella. Stuart McPherson, Managing Director, Cool Logistics said: ‘The School of Cool will provide a key learning point and resource for the business. Its success will now provide a platform to develop a standard programme that can be repeated in the future.
‘The DS Smith employees who attended the course will become “Cool Champions” located within key European markets and our aim is to run more Schools of Cool in the coming months as Cool Logistics aims to expand its network of Cool Champions and the Cool Franchise.’
