Kindeva secures $226m US defence contract for nerve agent antidote autoinjectors

The firm will manufacture up to 3 million ATNAA autoinjectors for the US Defense Logistics Agency to support military medical countermeasures

Kindeva Drug Delivery has been awarded a contract worth up to $226m by the US Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) to manufacture Antidote Treatment Nerve Agent Autoinjectors (ATNAA).

Announced on Thursday, the contract has the potential to cover the delivery of more than three million autoinjectors from Kindeva’s assembly operations in St. Louis, Missouri.

The products are intended to protect US military personnel against potential chemical threats.

The DLA is responsible for procuring and distributing supplies and equipment to the US Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps and other federal agencies.

Under the new agreement, Kindeva will manufacture and supply ATNAA as a medical countermeasure against nerve agent exposure.

According to Kindeva's announcement, the company will be the sole-source supplier of this essential medical countermeasure under the contract.

Autoinjector manufacturing for military and civilian use

ATNAA delivers atropine and pralidoxime chloride, two APIs used to treat poisoning caused by organophosphorus nerve agents and insecticides.

The dual-chamber autoinjector administers both medicines in a single device.

Kindeva also manufactures DuoDote, the civilian version of ATNAA, for US government agencies, first responders and more than 30 allied nations preparing for potential mass-casualty incidents.

The new agreement builds on Kindeva’s experience in drug-device manufacturing, combining pharmaceutical production with the assembly of delivery systems designed for rapid administration in emergency situations.

“We are thrilled to announce our new partnership with the DLA as Kindeva continues to support the US government in addressing evolving global security threats,” said David Stevens, CEO of Kindeva.

Following the recent visit from the DLA to our St. Louis facility, we were proud to showcase our proven expertise in fill-finish and highlight how our team is delivering critical medical countermeasures (MCM).

"This contract reflects Kindeva’s longstanding dedication to manufacturing high-quality, reliable treatments that help protect military personnel and civilian communities alike.”

Missouri facilities support sterile manufacturing

Recently, Kindeva has been developing its US manufacturing infrastructure — its Bridgeton, Missouri, site was named a finalist in the Operations category of the International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering’s (ISPE) 2025 Facility of the Year Awards.

The facility was developed to provide integrated sterile injectable manufacturing capabilities, bringing together fill-finish operations and supporting services at a single site.

Additionally, in an update in May this year, Kindeva highlighted an investment of more than $200m in the Bridgeton facility, designed to support sterile drug production from early development through commercial-scale manufacturing.
