LGC Standards expands into China

London-based LGC Standards has opened its first office in Beijing, China, signalling a milestone in the company's international development. The new office will enable the company to bring its laboratory quality products and services to the Chinese market.

London-based LGC Standards has opened its first office in Beijing, China, signalling a milestone in the company's international development. The new office will enable the company to bring its laboratory quality products and services to the Chinese market.

LGC Standards provides products and services for measurement and laboratory control encompassing reference material distribution and proficiency testing, together with the production of pharmaceutical impurities and custom synthesis. For the first time the company will be able to support Chinese laboratories directly by offering logistical and technical advice in their local language.

The new office will be managed by Dr Chen Hong, who has more than 10 years" experience in major international companies. Frank Lai also joins the company as a pharmaceutical specialist.

The Chinese team will focus on supplying laboratories in the pharmaceutical, environmental, food, industrial and forensic sectors with reference materials and proficiency testing schemes to support laboratory quality.

David Richardson, chief executive of LGC, said: 'Our new office provides an excellent opportunity for LGC to serve the Chinese scientific community and gives us a base from which to partner with local businesses on future projects.'
