Lonza appoints Juan Andres and Eric Drapé to its Board as independent members

The two bring a wealth of pharmaceutical knowledge, and have worked in a number of leadership positions at pharma giants such as Novo Nordisk, Moderna and Eli Lilly

The Lonza Board of Directors has nominated Juan Andres and Eric Drapé as independent members of the Board, who will propose to shareholders the election of both nominees at the Lonza Group Annual General Meeting in May 2025.

The announcement follows a recent move towards improving Lonza's board governance, as well as its succession planning. The Board has how expanded to ten people.

 

Juan Andres

Juan Andres, has more than 35 years of experience in the industry, in which time he has held a variety of leadership positions. Most recently, he was the President of Strategic Partnerships and Enterprise Expansion at Moderna.

Here, he led the technical development, scale-up and supply of its mRNA for COVID-19.

He was also the Head of Technical Operations and Head of Quality at Novartis and an employee at Eli Lilly for 15 years.

Juan's understanding of the biotech and pharma industries is further supported by his experience in international business, having spent time in Puerto Rico, Spain, Switzerland, the UK and the US.

 

Eric Drapé

Eric Drapé most recently held the role of EVP, Head of Global Operations, Company Officer and Mmeber of the Executive Committee at Teva Pharmaceuticals.

During his time at Teva, he oversaw operations across more than 50 sites.

He has worked in the industry for more than 35 years, and has served in a number of leadership roles spanning global operations and quality control at companies like Novo Nordisk and Ipsen Pharma.

Eric has also spent considerable time working internationally, taking up posts in Denmark, France, Israel and the US.
