Low volume liquid handling
High precision automation company Korvis Automation, of the US, has initiated a joint r&d collaboration with Myriad Genetics to create an ultra small volume liquid handling instrument that may be used for low volume dispensing in processes in which nanolitre quantities are desirable such as DNA sequencing.
Liquid handling instruments are used extensively in laboratories around the world to combine biological samples with reagents. The development effort is intended to reduce significantly the costs associated with such projects and to enable sample processing in applications where only limited amounts of sample can be obtained. The instrument will be available to Myriad and others, while Myriad will retain rights to the intellectual property developed around its intended applications.
